There have been long-drawn initiatives in the direction, and many reforms have been brought to curb and eliminate the use of fossil fuels, which happen to be the major source of greenhouse gases. Nuclear power, however, is a mixed bag today. It is not available and functional at a comprehensive capacity, and many countries are yet to build nuclear power plants and facilitate operations around it. There’s a lot of planning and execution-level work needed to channelize it into this direction. Till the year 2019, there were 444 active reactors in 30 countries. And nuclear power helped these countries to generate 10% of electricity for the entire year.


The high cost of building nuclear power facilities and the safety concerns around it has restricted the policy support in its favor. This is essentially leading to a slugging growth and expansion of nuclear power at a larger expanse, and this has let the other plans get subdued and restrained.

Now, as the world needs to bring a viable shift in energy utilization and carbon release, aggressive steps are being taken to meet the emission reduction targets. The countries like China, Russia, South Korea, and India are building nuclear power stations and facilities at scale, going with a phase-wise execution plan built on an integrated growth and advancement program to make the big change happen.


With a wide acceptance of nuclear power as a source of building emission-control technology, more transformation and conversion can be seen in the space in the coming years. As more capital investments and facility installations take place, it will continue to deliver more direct and immediate results for climate control. Consequently, it should have a more feasible and affordable service ecosystem built around it, which should further make it a more people-friendly source of GHG elimination.


We can expect a big turnaround if nuclear power is harnessed and utilized well to abort the redundant and ineffective methods to eliminate carbon emissions. Looking at the current growth and expansion of nuclear power grids and the support it is garnering from the government authorities, it is soon going to be a fundamentally favorable choice.
