The people who live in those houses annually drive almost 4400 fewer miles than the people who have no access to public transport.


If you travel by air you should avoid connecting flights. Jet fuels emit a lot of greenhouse gases. Landing and take-off are the most fuel-intensive parts of the flights. The more connections a flight makes, the higher the carbon footprint it will produce. So to reduce the environmental impact of your journey while booking your ticket you should choose direct flights. Heavier aircraft consume more fuels. A large portion of the weight of an aircraft is constituted by cargo and baggage. To make a difference in the flight’s fuel consumption you should try to reduce the weight of your luggage. To minimize your carbon emissions try to travel to the airport by train, bus, or other public transit modes.

Walking and bicycling are considered recreational activities. These man-powered locomotion need no oil or fossil fuel. Walking or cycling not only reduces traffic congestion but also helps to limit greenhouse gas emissions. These environmentally friendly travelling methods do not create noise and do not destroy wetlands, open parking spaces, and animal habitats. They also decrease our demand for motorized transport. One estimation shows that if around 45% of our journeys under 6 kilometers (which takes less than thirty minutes to cycle) were completed by walking or bicycling instead of driving, transport-related emission would decrease by 0.12 million tonnes per year.


To make a big change, every country should come forward to build eco-friendly vehicle infrastructure and promote climate-friendly development. Government should encourage all organizations to calculate their carbon footprint. Several awareness camps should be organized to make people aware of their roles to achieve the goal of zero-carbon transportation.
